Women’s Cross Country Lands Two in Top 15 at Castleton Invitational

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women's cross country team had a good showing at Saturday's Castleton Invitational with the Mountaineers chalking up three new personal records.

Two SVC runners placed in the top 15 in the 5000 meter race as the team was fourth out of the five squads that turned in scores.

The Mountaineers are next on the starting line at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 at Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational.

Southern Vermont senior Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt.) was first for her team and 11th overall at 26:15 while freshman Ahmyria Simmons (Silver Spring, Md.) was next for the Mountaineers as she crossed with a time of 27:15—that being 3:51 faster than she ran last week's 5k.

Freshmen Katie Godon (Carmel, Calif.) and Liv Pressley (Richmondville, N.Y.) both ran in their first collegiate cross country events and came through at 29:20 and 29:22, respectively.
