Women’s Cross Country Hosts 2018 Mountaineer Invitational to Open Regular Season

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The 2018 regular season for the Southern Vermont College women's cross country team got underway Saturday as the squad hosted its annual Mountaineer Invitational on the side of Mount Anthony.

With overcast skies and great running temperatures in the mid-60's, the Mountaineers placed seventh as a team in their first competition of the year.

SVC makes the short trip north to Castleton University for its next meet—that being an 11 a.m. start on Saturday, September 8.

Southern Vermont was paced by senior Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt.) who crossed the line with a time of 26:54. Freshman Ahmyria Simmons (Silver Spring, Md.) was next for SVC at 31:06 in her first collegiate race, and sophomore Faith Sullivan (Bennington, Vt.) rounded out the Mountaineers' top three as she came through at 36:41.
