Women’s Cross Country Competes at Castleton Invitational

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women's cross country team made the short trip north to Castleton University Saturday to run at the Spartans' Invitational.

The Mountaineers placed seventh as a team with three SVC runners breaking their previous personal-best times.

Southern Vermont is back at it next Saturday, September 16 when the Mountaineers get on the starting line at 10:30 a.m. for Johnson State College's Badger Invitational.

Leading the way for SVC at Castleton was Bennington College senior Isabella Poulos (Milwaukee, Wis.) who came in 10th overall with a time of 23:27 in her first race this season. Mountaineer senior Lexia Gillette (Pittsfield, Mass.) was next for the team—taking 2:04 off her time from a week ago to post a 26:03. She was followed shortly after by freshman Emily Ikonen (Hubbardston, Mass.) who crossed the line at 26:28 for a new PR by 22 seconds.
