ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern Vermont College senior captain Liv Sowles (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending September 30, 2018 as announced by the league on Monday.

The honor is the second this season for the Mountaineer after she first earned it on September 17.

Sowles continued to have a stellar senior year last week as she helped SVC go 2-1 and notch its most wins since 2012 (13). She registered 5.10 kills and 3.3 digs per set to tally a double-double in each of the three matches.

The senior had 24 kills on Saturday at Mitchell College for a career-best in a three-set contest; that was also the most for any DIII player this season. Against the Mariners, Sowles had only five attacking errors on 43 swings to chalk up a .442 hitting percentage.

Sowles and the Mountaineers are back on the court Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. non-league contest at SUNY Cobleskill.
