Women’s Volleyball Topped 3-0 by Stockton, Sage in Second Day of New Paltz’s Hawk Invitational

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Southern Vermont College women's volleyball team dropped 3-0 straight-set decisions Saturday afternoon at Hawk Center to both Stockton University and The Sage Colleges during the second day of SUNY New Paltz's Hawk Invitational.

The Mountaineers (0-7) are next in action on Wednesday when they head to Norwich University for a 7 p.m. first serve.

Stockton 3 – Southern Vermont 0
The Ospreys won the opening set of SVC's first match of the day by a 25-9 margin before going on to take the next two at 25-15 and 25-10 for the sweep.

Southern Vermont sophomore Sarah Billow (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) landed four kills for the Mountaineers while junior Heidy Benitez (Tulare, Calif.) tied the match-high of 11 digs. Sophomore Abigail Landon (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) had six assists, three digs and an ace against Stockton.

Sage 3 – Southern Vermont 0
Sage clipped SVC with game scores of 25-15, 25-11, and 25-19 as the Mountaineers wrapped up their participation in the Invitational.

Billow notched another four kills as Benitez once again tied the match-high mark in digs with 12 against the Gators; Benitez also had two assists and a pair of aces in the effort. Landon recorded seven assists, four digs and a pair of service aces while Bennington College freshman Kemly Derby (New York City, N.Y.) tallied three kills and a block assist for Southern Vermont.
