BRISTOL, R.I. – Capping its participation in the Ocean State Classic, the Southern Vermont College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to hosting Roger Williams University Saturday morning.
The Hawks defeats SVC with set scores of 25-9, 25-11, and 25-14.
Southern Vermont sophomore Katie Cerulo (Natick, Massachusetts) led all players with seven kills while senior Alexandra Sinicropi (Fultonville, New York) recorded a match-best nine digs. Senior Jessica Delgado (Los Angeles, California) had five kills and eight digs for the visitors, and junior Sheilani Kaleopa (Riverside, California) assisted on 14 of the 18 Mountaineer kills.
Four Hawks tallied five kills in the win with both sophomores Cassandra Minogue (Manorville, New York) and Brittany McMullen (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) not registering a single attacking error, totaling attack percentages of .714 and .833, respectively. Junior Nicole Weber (Poulsbo, Washington) led the team with six digs and added three service aces and 11 assists to her line. Freshman Josalyn Benson (Phoenix, Arizona) had 12 assists in the victory.
The Mountaineers (1-3) next visit Mount Ida College on Monday for a 6 p.m. start, and Roger Williams (6-4) is off until next Saturday, September 20 when the Hawks host Wellesley College for an 11 a.m. contest.
