Women’s Lacrosse Downed 25-1 at Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Southern Vermont College fell 25-1 to Keuka College Friday afternoon in a non-conference women's lacrosse tilt at Jephson Complex Game Field.

The Wolves went into halftime on top 16-1, and they continued to pad the lead through the final 30 minutes.

SVC (0-4) is now off until Saturday, March 23 when the Mountaineers visit Rhode Island College for a 1 p.m. start.

Southern Vermont sophomore Alex Safford (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) potted the visitors' goal while tying the game-highs of five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior goalie Sydnee Julian (Mexico, N.Y.) also had five ground balls, and she notched a pair of caused turnovers in the effort.

Junior Jess Foley (Wrentham, Mass.) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers for SVC while classmate Juliena D'Alessio (Berlin, N.Y.) added a caused turnover and a pair of ground balls.

Julian posted 16 saves in the fan during the loss (0-4).

Keuka scored early and often off the opening draw as the Wolves never let the game be in doubt. They went on top 11-0 by the midway point of the first half, and the hosts were then able to cruise to victory.

Safford put an end to the shutout with 5:12 left before halftime—netting her fourth goal of the year. The rest was all KC, however, as the Wolves outscored SVC 9-0 in the second stanza.
