NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Southern Vermont College fell 65-29 at Mass. College of Liberal Arts Friday evening in non-conference women's basketball action at Amsler CC Gym.

The Trailblazers scored the first 17 points of the night and never looked back en route to the victory.

The Mountaineers (1-6) have a quick turnaround for their next game as SVC heads to Newbury College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. New England Collegiate Conference opener.

Southern Vermont was led by the fourth double-double of the season from junior Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt.) who had 16 points and 14 rebounds while adding four blocks to her line. Freshman Brenna Hudson (Malone, N.Y.) tallied four points, four rebounds, and two steals in the effort.

MCLA ran out to a big lead off the tip before Main got her team on the board with a layup. The SVC junior then dropped a 3-pointer in the second quarter before the hosts went into the break on top 31-5.

Baskets were traded in the third stanza as the Trailblazers were able to maintain their distance. Mountaineer junior captain Kayla Emmi (Syracuse, N.Y.) and sophomore Dani Biggers (Broadalbin, N.Y.) both knocked down triples in the fourth, but it would not be enough to chip away at the deficit before the final horn.
