    The Southern Vermont College softball team made history Saturday afternoon as it recorded the most wins in program history (9) with a pair of New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) wins over Regis College at Willow Park. The Mountaineers took the first game 4-3 before concluding the sweep with a 5-2 victory.

    Timely hitting and great defense propelled the Southern Vermont College Mountaineers to sweep visiting with SUNY Cobleskill 12-3 and 3-2 wins at Willow Park Tuesday afternoon. A three-run fourth inning preceded Mountaineers scoring seven unanswered runs in the fifth which was cut short due to the eight run mercy rule. Southern Vermont tied the game in the bottom of the third with a leadoff home run from sophomore starting pitcher Emily Fleming (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). She also drove in five runs on the day.

The Mountaineers won the first game, 16-0, and the second tilt, 17-2.

    Southern Vermont College Softball dropped two at Becker College in New Englad Collegiate Conference (NECC) action Saturday afternoon. BC sophomore shortstop Megan Bolduc (Dover, N.H.) hit a walk-off grand slam over the centerfield wall to lead the hosts to a 10-6 win in game two of the doubleheader at Russell Field. Earlier, Becker won the first game, 4-3 in the Hawks’ home-opener.
