Softball Swept by Wildcats

Longmeadow, MA – Bay Path College defeated Southern Vermont College in NECC action. The doubleheader sweep came at scores of 4-3 and 7-1 this afternoon.

Keelin Dougherty pitched 14 innings striking out 12 and allowing 4 runs.  She also chipped in going 4 for 5, scored 5 runs and had 7 stolen bases. Hayley McDonald (Latham, NY) went the distance in both games for SVC allowing 12 runs while striking out 12.

In game one, Bay Path held a 4-0 lead but the Mountaineers scored three runs in the sixth to come within a run. However, in the top of the seventh SVC put runners on first in second but weren't able to push the tying run across.

Alyssa Davis, Shelby Jones, Haley Morgan and Hannah Cross all recorded hits in game one. Morgan and Jones each recorded an RBI in the loss.

In the second game Bay Path once again jumped out to an early lead. This time though it was seven runs in the first five innings. The Mountaineers comeback was stalled at one run and the game finished 7-1.

Jones recorded two hits in game two along with multi-hit games from Jessica Eldridge. Marrissa Flores and Davis also recorded hits.

Bay Path 7-22, 2-6 NECC next plays on Sunday, April 15 at 3 & 5 pm vs. Wheelock College.  Southern Vermont College 3-23, 0-8 NECC plays home at 1 & 3 pm vs. Mitchell College.
