Becker Defeats Softball In Two

Leicester, Mass. – Becker College swept a doubleheader in softball action today over New England Collegiate Conference rival Southern Vermont 9-5 and 12-4. Sophomore catcher Larissa Paula led the Hawks going a combined 5 for 8 with 4 RBI's in the games.

With the wins Becker improves to 10-14 and 6-2 in conference action. Southern Vermont remains winless.

In game one the teams traded runs in first inning. Becker scored three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead. SVC scored 2 runs in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 4-3.

Becker scored a single run in the bottom of the third on a Lindsay Hanna double to left field to build a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the 4th junior Alyssa Davis homered and Tish Hall had an RBI single for the Mountaineers to tie the game at 5-5.

Becker took the lead for good scoring two runs in the bottom of the 4th and Hanna sealed the game with a home run in the bottom of the 6th.

In game two Becker took an early lead and never looked back. In the bottom of the first the Hawks had back-to-back-to-back doubles by Paula, Talan Barron and Felicia Laufer en route to a 5 run inning. Barron finished the game 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and Jess Lewis went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's. Paige Needham had three strikeouts in the win.
