Track & Field Charts Five Entries at Smith’s Carla Coffey Classic

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Southern Vermont College outdoor track and field team ventured to Smith College Saturday for the Carla Coffey Classic. The Mountaineers chalked up five entries with one being a personal best.

SVC is next in action on Saturday, April 13th with Stockton University's Osprey Open.

Southern Vermont sophomore Omar Santiago-Rodriguez (Stanfordville, N.Y.) broke his personal record in the discus toss with a mark of 20.21 meters—that being 2.19 meters further than he threw last week. He also put up a long distance of 6.66 meters in the shot put.

Mountaineer freshman Osman Padilla (El Paso, Texas) competed in three events during the day including the long jump where he came in 15th place with a mark of 4.75 meters. The rookie posted a 100 meter dash time of 13.15 seconds and a 200 meter dash time of 27.18 seconds for SVC.
