DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Southern Vermont College outdoor track & field team chalked up four first-time marks Saturday at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth's Corsair Classic.
Each of the entries were just fractions away from making it onto the program's all-time records list.
SVC's next meet is scheduled for Saturday, April 6 with Smith College's Carla Coffey Classic.
Southern Vermont freshman Osman Padilla (El Paso, Texas) registered his first collegiate participation in the 400 meter dash and the long jump. He put up a time of 1:03.14 in his race while notching a distance of 4.51 meters in the leap.
Fellow freshman Omar Santiago-Rodriguez (Stanfordville, N.Y.) made a pair of appearances in throwing events—hitting 7.41 meters in the shot put while recording a mark of 18.02 meters in the discus toss.
