CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Southern Vermont College senior Marc Brandmeyer (Bennington, Vt.) concluded his collegiate career Saturday with his third-straight participation in the Division III New England Championships.

Brandmeyer had qualified for the men's 3000 meter steeplechase back on April 21. On Saturday, he placed ninth in the field of the 17 best runners from the region who competed in the event at Mass. Institute of Technology's Henry G. Steinbrenner Track.

The Mountaineer posted a season-best mark of 9:52.05.

"I couldn't be more proud of Marc for once again hitting a time worthy of getting him to the regional stage," said SVC first-year head coach Jarrett Blankenship. "Unfortunately, today's performance did not go as we planned or anticipated.

"This season, Marc contributed greatly to our team's success," Blankenship added. "He's been an absolute pleasure to coach. I look forward to seeing his many accomplishments off the track in the near future. His talent, and the competitive atmosphere that he created, will be very difficult to replace."
