NECC Selects Davanté Smith as Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending September 16, 2018 with Southern Vermont College junior Davanté Smith (Ellenville, N.Y.) being selected as the league's Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Smith was first across the line for SVC on Saturday at Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational. He came through at 30:47 in the 8k which included Division I and II teams. That was good enough for a split pace of 6:17 per mile.

Monday's is the second NECC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week laurel for Smith as he garnered it once in 2017.

Smith and the Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday when they head to Mount Greylock Regional High School for the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College. That 5k race is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
