ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern Vermont College's C.G. Holden (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending October 14, 2018 as announced by the league on Monday.

The Bennington College sophomore is collecting the Conference honor for the fourth time out of six races he has participated in this year. He also earned the accolade on September 4, September 10, and October 1.

Holden was back to competition Saturday after an off week and hit the course at Western New England University's Golden Bear Invitational with his best-ever collegiate performance. He finished the 8000 meter race with a time of 28:16; that was 35 seconds faster than his previous personal best, and it helped him cross the line first for SVC and 20th overall in a meet that saw Harvard University place five runners in the top eight. Holden chalked up a pace of 5:41 per mile at WNEU.

Holden and the Mountaineers are off again this upcoming weekend as they rest and prepare to defend their NECC title on Saturday, October 27 at Elms College's course in Chicopee, Mass.
