Men’s Cross Country Charts Three PR’s as Two Mountaineers Place in Top Five at Castleton Invitational

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College men's cross country team ran its first 8000 meter race of the year on Saturday at the Castleton University Invitational with a pair of Mountaineers placing in the top five.

Additionally, three SVC runners posted personal records on the day as the Mountaineers placed second out of the four teams that registered scores.

Southern Vermont now prepares for Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational set to take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 15.

Bennington College sophomore C.G. Holden (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was first for SVC and third overall as he knocked six seconds off his previous personal best with a 28:51. Junior Davanté Smith (Ellenville, N.Y.) was next for the Mountaineers and crossed the line fourth overall at 29:08.

Senior Jackson Amankrah (New York City, N.Y.) topped his previous best by 51 seconds for a 35:00, and freshman Marcus Tucker (Greenwich, N.Y.) ran his first collegiate 8k in a time of 37:22.
