BENNINGTON, Vt. — One day after picking up his second New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week honor for the season, Southern Vermont College freshman Stewart Ramirez (Los Angeles, California) was tabbed the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Region Rookie of the Week for the period ending March 1, 2015.
All student-athletes named as their respective conference’s Player of the Week or Rookie of the Week are automatically eligible for ECAC honors.
Ramirez had another strong week for the Mountaineers, hitting .440 across a pair of wins to help SVC stay undefeated in NECC action. The rookie notched 4.67 kills per set with a match-best 14 kills in each contest, adding eight and seven digs against Newbury and Regis, respectively. Ramirez totaled only six hitting errors on 50 swings for the week and registered a pair of block assists in Saturday's win over the Pride.
The rookie and the Mountaineers are back at it this week with a pair of league matches, first visiting Endicott College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tilt between the only two teams unbeaten in Conference play.
