Men's Volleyball to Face Endicott as No. 4 Seed in NECC Playoffs

The 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Volleyball Championship bracket has been announced with Southern Vermont College earning the No. 4 seed after a season in which the Mountaineers went 6-6 in conference play (11-20 overall).

SVC will match up against Endicott College, the tournament host and No. 1 seed, Friday night at 6 p.m. The Gulls finished conference play with a perfect 12-0 record (20-8), the second-straight year in which they've done so. "I think my guys are going to be ready for this challenge," said head coach Josh Stokes. "All the sophomores and juniors that have been here since we started this age of the program definitely know what to expect against this competition. We know what we're going against after already playing Endicott twice, so we should be coming in hungry for some wins and know what we're going against."

Endicott swept the Mountaineers in both regular season matches, 3-0.

The other semifinal matchup features the No. 2 seed Daniel Webster College (10-2 NECC, 15-11) against Elms College, the third-seeded team, which finished the conference schedule with a 7-5 mark (14-13 overall). The Eagles and Blazers also play at Endicott Friday night, starting after the conclusion of the SVC/EC match around 8 p.m.

"I'm looking forward to the tournament," said Stokes. "I think it's going to be a great opportunity. In the third time making the conference playoffs for me and this program, hopefully we're able to pull out a couple wins."

The two semifinal winners will meet up on Saturday for the title match at Endicott scheduled for 2 p.m.
