RIDGEFIELD PARK. N.J. – The Southern Vermont College men's soccer team dropped a tight 1-0 contest against Yeshiva University Wednesday night in non-conference action at Overpeck Park.

After the contest went to halftime in a scoreless stalemate, the hosting Maccabees put home a deflected ball in the 62nd minute. SVC outshot YU by a 12-8 margin, including a 7-1 advantage in takes on frame, but the Mountaineers were unable to come up with an equalizer in the first-ever meeting between the two squads.

Southern Vermont (0-3) now gears up to host the second annual LINAO Mountaineer Invitational this weekend with SVC taking on Northern Vermont University-Lyndon at 2 p.m. in an opening round to be played at Applejack Stadium in Manchester.

Mountaineer freshman Osman Padilla (El Paso, Texas) put both of his shots on goal while classmate Diego Uquillas (Erie, Pa.) took the loss (0-3) after his 45 minutes of relief time in net.
