ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second-straight time, the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week is hailing from Southern Vermont College as freshman left-hander Tyler Graham (Amsterdam, N.Y.) collected the honor on Monday for the period ending March 5, 2017.
Graham had a strong outing on Sunday at SUNY Maritime, tossing 4.1 innings of relief as SVC came back to go on top after falling behind 6-0 through the first two frames in the backend of a doubleheader. He gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk while striking out four Privateer batters, and Graham also converted on both of his chances on defense to record a pair of putouts.
The freshman's accolade comes after classmate Nick Santoro (Syracuse, N.Y.) was selected as the first NECC Rookie of the Week for 2017 last Monday.
Graham and the Mountaineers are now off until Sunday when they start their participation in the California Invitational with a twin bill at Occidental College slated to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
