Alex Burt became an assistant coach for the Southern Vermont men’s basketball team in November 2017. He brought a slew of stellar playing experience to Bennington which included a pair of professional stints across the Atlantic.
Coach Burt had most recently played for BBG Herford in Germany in the summer of 2017, and he spent the fall of 2015 with Derbyshire Arrows in England. While in the United Kingdom, he was also the head coach of the Sheffield University men’s team.
Burt graduated from Plymouth State University in 2015 with a bachelor’s in physical education (applied health fitness) and a minor in professional sales. While at PSU, he made over 100 appearances for the Panthers as a four-year player—71 of those being starts. In that time, he amassed 1,045 points (10.0/game) with 450 of those coming from downtown; Burt also totaled 307 rebounds, 165 assists, and 79 steals. His Plymouth State squad made the Little East Conference postseason tournament in each of the four years he was there, and he was named to the 2011 LEC All-rookie Team.
Burt has spent time working for Collins Sports Center in New Hampshire as an inside sales representative and territory manager, and he also worked for his hometown of Derry, N.H. while an undergraduate student.
