Michael Nosek took over the position of Sports Information Director at Southern Vermont College in July 2012. He is an alumnus of Southern Vermont, graduating in 2010 with his Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree. In November 2017, he was named SVC's Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications.
A six-year member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, Nosek has seen two student-athletes garner CoSIDA Academic All-District honors (the first two in Southern Vermont history) with one of those going on to get chosen to a CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
Prior to returning to SVC, Nosek was an integration and instructional assistant at Tantasqua Regional Senior High School in Fiskdale, Mass., during which time he assisted in coaching the Tantasqua Junior High baseball team. In the fall of 2011, he was the assistant varsity soccer coach for his brother, Christopher, at North Brookfield High School (Mass.).
In the year following graduation, Nosek fulfilled an internship at the Eastern College Athletic Conference as the Asa S. Bushnell Communications Assistant. During that stint, he was the media coordinator for the 2011 NCAA DIII New England Regional Baseball Championship in Harwich, Mass.
Nosek was a member of the SVC men’s soccer team in his freshman year of ’06 before becoming a member of the men’s rugby club; he became the club president prior to his senior year. While at SVC, he was also a member of the Student Activity Squad and Student Government Association, serving as president for a year. Nosek was the Voice of the Mountaineers from his sophomore year through graduation, providing public address and in-game announcements during soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball contests.
While in Massachusetts, Nosek was a United States Soccer Federation certified referee, as well as a staff member of Time It Right, an organization responsible for assigning scoreboard and shot clock operators for area institutions including Harvard University and Springfield College.
In June 2016, Nosek married Sarah Knapp - an associate professor of psychology in SVC's Donald Axinn Division of Social Sciences. In January 2018, the Noseks celebrated the birth of their son, Liam Michael.
