ATHLETE OF THE WEEK FOR PERIOD ENDING 2/3/19
Aaron Murray #10 (Men's Basketball)
Sr. / 6-3 / Guard/Forward
Hometown: Camden, N.J.
High School: Wheaton HS
Major: Criminal Justice
Inside the numbers: Murray had one of the best stretches of his SVC career last week as he helped the Mountaineers go 2-1. He had three-straight games with double figures in the points column after having posted only four-such performances this year. He came close to averaging a double-double by notching 10.3 points and nine rebounds per game—shooting an even 50 percent from the floor. On Monday at Eastern Nazarene, Murray recorded just his second career double-double with 11 points and a game-best 10 rebounds. The senior followed with 10 points against both Newbury and Becker to finish the week. Last year, Murray reached double digits in the points column only once.
What Coach Johnson is saying: “Aaron has owned the second half of the season. He’s found his niche and has excelled in his role. He’s a senior that will do whatever it takes to win. About a week ago, Aaron and his teammate, Rohan, were getting up shots on our shooting machine during an off-day. It is no surprise that he’s been playing his best basketball. I’m proud of his progression.”
