Velazquez Rookie Runner of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt.- Southern Vermont College runner Victor Velazquez was honored by the New England Collegiate Conference this past week for his performance at the Daniel Webster Invitational. Velazquez ran a 32:42 five mile which earned him a sixth place finish at the event. Velazquez was the first Southern Vermont runner to come across the line; he led the Mountaineers to a second place finish.

“Victor learned a lot about racing cross country this week. He is tough and responsive, and we are just seeing the beginning of what he can do. We are very pleased to have Victor at SVC. He will be a huge asset to this growing program.” said Head Coach Maria Stuber

SVC will host its own event this weekend on the campus of Southern Vermont. The collegiate men’s race will kick off at 10AM, with the collegiate women’s race starting at 11, and the citizens race at noon.
