Men’s and Women’s Cross Country 7th at State Meet

COLCHESTER, Vt.- The SVC Cross Country team competed at the Vermont State meet this past weekend on the campus of St. Michael’s College. The Women’s and Men’s team each finished in 7th place for the meet. In the Women’s competition there were nine teams as there were 10 teams that competed on the Men’s side.

Southern Vermont’ Olivia Botteron was the highest finisher on the Women’s side in 57th place. Botteron finished with a time of 25:02. Brittany Start was the next Mountaineer across the line in 60th with a 25:20 time. The Mountaineers had five Women cross the line Saturday afternoon.

For the Men Hesbon Ogeka finished 62nd with a time of 32:15, as teammate Vicotr Velazquez finished 67th at 32:36. The Men had 10 Mountaineers cross the line for the state meet.

Thirteen Mountaineers set personal records for their fastest time of the season thus far. The Men’s team has competed in four races in 2011, and finished second twice and seventh twice. The State Meet was the third for the Women’s team as they have finished second, sixth, and now seventh.
