Stuber and Olympic Great Lynn Jennings Run Camp

CRAFTSBURY, Vt.- Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach Maria Stuber along with Lisa Schlenker, and Olympic great Lynn Jennings hosted a one day high school cross country camp for VT teens. The camp was run with the purpose of preparing high school athletes to prepare for their pre-season. Jennings an Olympic Bronze Medalist has won 39 National Championships and 3 Consecutive World Cross Country Titles.  She’s one of only two American women to win an Olympic medal in an event over the 800m.

The inaugural camp was even more exciting than expected. The three coaches were not sure how many runners were going to participate in the camp until Saturday, August 20th, morning. Around 8:30AM runners started gathering in front of the farmhouse office. Then a full sized yellow school bus pulled up in front of the office, springing off the bus was a large contingent from St. Johnsbury Academy runners along with their coach, Chip Langmaid.

The day turned out to be an exciting and filling day with a full schedule and the sun shining. The campers went over threshold and tempo intervals, hills, circuit training and classroom presentations.

Next July the group of coaches will be holding a multi-day cross country running camp just for VT high school students.
