NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Southern Vermont College freshman Maggie Kuntz (South Hadley, Mass.) finished 26th out of 115 harriers at the 5K SUNY Cobleskill Invitational. Her 5K time of 21:11 was one of the top ten best finishes in the Mountaineers All-Time Record Book. The Mountaineers finished in 12th place as a team with 328 points.
"This weekend the women's cross country showed considerable improvement on their performances while competing at the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational," said Coach Joe Catania. "Maggie Kuntz lowered her seasonal PR to 21:11, the #3 performance all-time in SVC Cross Country History. Running second for SVC was Victoria Hernas (25:40), who improved 3:25 over her performance in the first meet. SVC's thirst finisher in the meet was Brittany Stark (25:41), who was right behind Victory with an improvement of 3:24 over the first meet's performance. SVC's fourth runner Amanda Chenail (27:22) with an improvement of 5:10 was the best improvement on the team. Erin Prom (28:31) and Lauren Masiero (30:46) were competing for the first time this season and rounded out the top six for the mountaineers. I am proud of the women's team and on their attitude and performances. With continued dedication to their training we hope to be a factor by the end of the season.
