Mountaineer Cross Country Men Run Season Opener

Marcy, N.Y.- The Southern Vermont Men's Cross Country meet was scored as a scrimmage at the SUNY-IT Invitational on Saturday, but that did not stop them from having an impressive showing.
Mountaineer freshman Nick Murray had the best time of the day for Southern Vermont College when he finished in 32nd place with a time of 24:41.2. Not far behind him was freshman Seth Chase who placed 50th on the day with a respectable time of 27:29.9. The third Mountaineer to cross the finish line was freshman Orion Slavin with a 63rd place finish. Rounding out the Mountaineer men meet was freshman Taylor Butts who placed 69th on the day.
Junior Ben Flanagan of Hobart College finished in 1st place in the meet with a time of 20:36.7. Following behind him in a close 2nd was freshman Eric Moore also of Hobart College with a time of 20:38.1.Placing in 3rd by only .5 seconds was sophomore Geoffrey Hale of Utica College with a time of 20:38.6
The Mountaineer men will be back in action Saturday, September 13, at the Smith College Invitational. The meet kicks off at 11:00 AM.
