Healis Earns 2nd NECC Weekly Honor

BENNINGTON, Vt.- For the second time in the 2011 fall season, Southern Vermont College junior Danielle Healis (San Diego, CA) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) player of the week. It is the fourth time that the Women’s Volleyball team has been honored by the conference, for player of the week.

Healis, a middle for the Mountaineers helped SVC to a 4-0 record last week. She also helped the Women’s Volleyball program tie the school record with 24 wins. The Mountaineer, who leads the NECC in hitting percentage for 2011, hit above .500 in all four matches a week ago. The California native hit .583 on the week as she connected for 38 kills in 60 attempts.

“I’m proud of how consistent Danielle has played all season long. It is great to have a 6’1 middle that can do just about everything,” said Head Volleyball Coach Josh Stokes.

Healis has done everything for the Mountaineers in 2011 with a .396 hitting percentage, 235 kills, 62 blocks, 31 digs, 18 service aces, and 12 assists. Most importantly though, Healis and the Mountaineers are on a 15 match win streak and have won 30 consecutive sets; as they sit atop of the NECC standing with a 4-0 mark. The Mountaineers will take its 24-2 record to Lesley University this Wednesday for a 7:00PM NECC matchup.
