Healis Honored by NECC
BENNINGTON, Vt.- Southern Vermont College Junior Middle Hitter Danielle Healis (San Diego, CA) earned NECC Player of the Week honors for the week August 29th – September 4th. Healis had a major impact in the success of the Mountaineer for the week. SVC had a 5-1 record, which was the best start to school history. SVC won two matches on Thursday night in the season opener against MCLA and Castleton, before they went 3-1 in the Hamilton Tournament over the weekend.
Healis hit for an astounding .354 hitting percentage over the six matches. She converted 72 kills in 161 attempts while only committing 15 errors. Healis also had an impact on the defensive side of the court, for the league leading Mountaineers, with 15 blocks in the six matches. For the week, Healis also garnered honors at the Hamilton Tournament, when she was named to the All-Tournament team.
"Danielle has proven to be one of the key additions to our program," said Head Coach Josh Stokes. "Her numbers speak for her talent."
Healis and the Mountaineers will be back in action this week with another six matches. SVC travels to Anna Maria Tuesday night, hosts Green Mountain Wednesday, at the Mountaineer Athletic Center at 7:00PM, and will be in Potsdam, NY this weekend for the Victory Promotions Invitational.
