Nashua – Jessica Alvarez (Eagle Rock, Cal.) knocked down a match high 16 kills and hit. 444 with eight digs guiding Southern Vermont past host Daniel Webster, 3-0 in the NECC women's volleyball regular season finale for both clubs Saturday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.
Danielle Healis (San Diego, Cal.) added eight kills and Hershey Canta (Bataan, Philippines) dished out 25 assists as the Mountaineers (29-2, 8-0 NECC) won for the 20th straight time with the 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 sweep and completed a perfect conference regular season slate. The Mountaineers have also won 45 consecutive sets, the 6th longest streak in NCAA history.
Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) led the Eagles (15-8, 5-3 NECC) with six kills while Ally Hayden (Bedford, N.H.) added 10 assists and Amanda Wilson (Merrimack, N.H.) pulled in seven digs.
SVC trailed only once early in the first set and took control behind a .297 hitting percentage and 13 total aces, while the Eagles struggled to hit just .032 managing just three aces. Cindyline Sevilla (Echo Park, Cal.) chipped in with four kills for the winners, while Joanna Hogue (Los Gatos, Cal.) pulled in a match high nine digs. Kate-Lynn Breault (Hudson, N.H.) added three kills for the Eagles, who learn their post-season seeding and schedule Sunday evening.
Southern Vermont will host the NECC final four next Friday and Saturday with semifinal games on Friday at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The championship is slated for Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
