Demers Ends Career with All-Conference Selection
BENNINGTON, Vt.- Senior captain Joellen Demers (Essex, Vt.) was named to the All New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) team for her play in 2011. The senior was named to the Honorable Mention team. Demers led the Mountaineers to its best season in the past twelve years, including a NECC post-season appearance.
Southern Vermont went 3-11, which totaled the amount of wins in the previous 12 seasons. Demers was a key part to the team as she helped the SVC defense drop its goals against from 77, in 2010, to 38 in 2011. The senior was also a captain for the team in her final two seasons at SVC.
“I’m thrilled for Joellen, she was our anchor on defense all year. Joellen was our leader, she was consistent, and a major reason for our success this year,” Head Coach Michael Zauzig said.
