Strong Second Half Not Enough for Women’s Soccer
Leicester, Mass.- In the second half of Tuesday night's game between Becker and Southern Vermont the Mountaineers played the Hawks to a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately, five first half Becker goals led the Hawks to a 6-1 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory.
Southern Vermont's Connor Crawford headed a Shawnee Webster pass for her second goal of 2011 in the 86 minute of play. It was Webster eighth point of the campaign, as she now has three goals and two assists. Each of the assists have resulted in a Crawford goal. The goal was the lone goal for the Mountaineers who fell to 3-8 with the loss.
Becker used five first half goals en route to the victory. Jodi Theriault and Caroline Plunkett each had two goals in the first frame. Alycia Dery also scored for the Hawks, who improved to 7-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The Mountaineers will travel to Newbury on Saturday afternoon as the Hawks will return to action at Daniel Webster, Saturday.
