Cecchini Nearly Saves The Day In a 1-0 Loss to Regis
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women’s soccer team defeated Southern Vermont College1-0 Saturday at the Regis College Athletic Fields. This was the Prides first win of the season. The Pride outshot the Mountaineers 21-1 in the first half. But the Mountaineers goal keeper Catrina Cecchini kept her team in the game by making 25 saves.
The Pride continued with their barrage of shots into the second half with freshman midfielder Tess McLean missing a shot wide to keep the game tied at 0-0. At the 50:17 minute mark, sophomore midfielder Bethany Frye scored the Prides only goal to make the score 1-0 in favor of Regis.
At 65:12, the Mountaineers senior forward Amber Coutermash was able to break through the Pride’s defense and get a shot on goal. Luckily for the Pride, junior goal keeper Michaela Yebba was able to stop the shot. Finishing in goal for the Pride was Frye, who was substituted into goal with 20 minutes to go in the second period.
