Badger Womens Soccer Topple Mountaineers
BENNINGTON, Vt. – Visiting non-conference in-state foe the Johnson State College Badgers defeated the Southern Vermont College Mountaineers 6-0 Tuesday on Everett Field. Six different Badgers scored in the game that saw many nice stops from SVC keeper freshman Catrina Cecchini who had 31 saves on the day.
Southern Vermont held JSC at bay for 18 minutes before freshman Stephanie Fay knocked it past Cecchini in the top left corner of the frame on a nice pass from senior Samantha Cutting.
Two unassisted goals from junior Crystal Greene and freshman Jen Ferrari in the 36th and 45th minutes gave the Badgers a 3-0 lead. Only a minute later freshman Kelsie Perdue took a nifty pass from Kyleigh Joseph and hit the back of the frame to make it 4-0.
The Mountaineers held JSC until the 69th minute when sophomore Ally Bataille kicked it over the reaching arms of Cecchini on an unassisted effort. The Badgers last score came in the 74th minute when sophomore Christen Harrington knocked in a nice pass from Bataille to make it 6-0.
The Mountaineers fell to 0-9 with the loss, while the Badgers improved to 6-3.
SVC is back in action Saturday, October 9th, when it hosts New England Collegiate Conference foe the Bay Path College Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Everett Field.
