Mountaineer Women's Soccer Falls to Eagles

POULTNEY, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women’s soccer team fell 5-0 in non-conference play against the Green Mountain College Eagles Wednesday afternoon. Catrina Cecchini nabbed 18 saves to bring her total for the year to 60.

The Eagles improve to 1-1 on the season while SVC falls to 0-3.

Samantha Tarjirian opened the scoring for GMC with her first of the year just eight minutes into the contest neatly finishing an Erin Burch service.  The Eagles doubled their lead through Burch in the 36th, heading into the halftime interval with a 2-0 advantage.

Tarjirian completed her brace just two minutes into the second 45 from the edge of box putting the game well out of reach.  Emily Heale added a fourth in the 75th with Sarah Porter finishing the scoring with her first of the season in the 76th minute.

The women’s soccer team is back in action on Saturday, September 18th, when it travels to Lyndon State College for a 1:00 p.m. game.
