Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 to Wildcats

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Adriana Perry broke a tie with 10:22 remaining, sending the Wheelock College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Southern Vermont College on Senior Day in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest at Winsor Field. Perry's goal, which capped a 4:50 flurry during which all of the game's scoring occurred, helped the Wildcats end the campaign at 1-15 overall and 1-7 in the league. The Mountaineers finish up at 0-16 and 0-8.

Junior Alexandra Chiesa made three saves for the hosts, while sophomore Keneisha Milton also scored. Seniors Christine Pellerin and Nicole Zina were honored prior to their final home game before Zina provided the assist on a Milton go-ahead marker. Graduate student Nicole French also donned Navy and Gold for the final time during the contest.

Freshman Catrina Cecchini recorded six stops in the Southern Vermont net, while sophomore Danielle Celotto notched a tying tally. The visitors succumbed to slight Wheelock advantages in shots, 15-12, and corner kicks, 4-2.

During a scoreless game in the 75th minute, Zina dribble toward the right corner and sent a cross out front, which bounced to the left side of the net, where Milton tapped in her second marker of the season at 74:48. The visitors regrouped, however, and Celotto followed a failed clear of her own volley by pouncing on a loose ball and finding the upper left-hand corner of the goal at the 76:52 mark, just 2:04 after Milton's tally.

Fewer than three minutes later, Perry snapped the deadlock, as a Mountaineer defender found Perry's feet with a clearing attempt, and the junior drilled an arcing shot from 30 yards away that slipped just under the crossbar and above the leaping Cecchini. It was her third goal of the season.
