SVC Women’s Soccer Falls to Morrisville State in Season Opener

BENNINGTON, Vt. The Southern Vermont College women's soccer team fell 5-0 in its non-conference home opener against the Morrisville State College Mustangs Wednesday night at Everett Field. Mountaineer freshman goalie Catrina Cecchini had 17 saves at the frame. Mustangs Beth Fisher and Nicole Geier each had two goals apiece in the contest.

SVC (0-1) was led on the offensive end by sophomore Shawnee Webster who had three solid shot attempts. Fisher had goals at 27:14 and 32:37 in the first half, freshman middle Erin Rundle added the third of the day, at 36:50, with a nice shot over SVC's Cecchini that knocked off the crossbar and into the net. Geier rounded out the scoring with goals in the 59th and 72nd minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cheyanna Waters got the win at the net as she made two saves in 90 minutes of work for the Mustangs.

The Mountaineers hit the road to battle non-conference opponent Regis College this Saturday, September 4th. The game is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
