Claircius Named NECC Player of the Week
BENNINGTON, Vt.- Southern Vermont College Women's Basketball player Joa Claircius was named the New England Collegiate Conference(NECC) Player of the Week for the week November 21-27. Claircius and the Mountaineers went 1-0 a week ago, with a victory over Green Mountain College.
The senior guard led the Mountaineers to victory with 26 points and 16 rebounds, en route to a 77-62 win at Green Mountain. Claircius shot 10 of 19 from the field and made five of her seven free throws. The Florida native also chipped in with three assists and a steal.
"Joa's performance Tuesday night gave everyone on the floor the desire and drive to win the game," Head Coach Mike Quinn said.
The victory was the first for the Mountaineers in 2011 who now sit at 1-2. SVC will host its home opener Tuesday night against New England College, at 6:00PM, in the Mountaineer Athletic Center.
