SVC Softball Falls Short In The Bottom Of the Seventh Against Wildcats

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Southern Vermont College softball team nearly split with NECC foe the Bay Path College Wildcats as the Mountaineers lost game one 3-2 and game two 9-1 Saturday afternoon. In game one Bay Path College scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th to earn an heartbreaking come from behind victory. SVC pitcher Gabrielle Remillard pitched well in the first game striking out three and walking three.
Senior Sarah Gates had a two run double to tie the game and came home for the game winner on an infield hit by Sarah Safron. Kayla Whitman hit a homerun for the Mountaineers. Gabrielle Remillard pitched a great game giving up 8 hits and 3 runs.eight runs, only one of which was earned.
In game two Bay Path, won 9-1 on the hitting of Gates who was 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and Sam Gunseth, as she also had three hits. Nizinski allowed one run in the first before settling down to win her 10th game of the season. Talan Baron pitched well for the Mountaineers to keep SVC team in the game for five innings before the Wildcats pushed across four run to take a 6-1 lead.
Southern Vermont College hosts Becker College on Sunday, April 25th, with the first game starting at 1:00 p.m.
