Mountaineers Fall Short Against Saxons
COCOA, Fla. – The Southern Vermont College softball team fell to the Alfred University Saxons of Alfred, N.Y. 8-0 Monday, March 8, at Chain of Lakes Park. Sophomore Gabrielle Remillard pitched well for the Mountaineers striking out three, and sophomore outfielder Kayla Whitman went 1-for-2.
The loss drops Southern Vermont to 0-2 overall, while the Saxons improved to 3-1. Alfred’s Chelsey Cary got the win on the mound for the Saxons as she struck out nine. Freshman catcher Emily Fenton went 2-for-2 with a three-run homerun for the Saxons.
The Mountaineers face off against Penn State New Kensington on Wednesday, March 10th, at 1:00 p.m.
