Southern Vermont Drops NECC Doubleheader To Bay Path

BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College softball team hosted NECC foe Bay Path College Sunday losing by games 21-3 and 20-3. Freshman Kayla Whitman (Bennington, Vt.) led SVC going 4-for-6 with four RBI including three home runs, a triple, and she stole home in the fifth inning of game two.  

Walks and errors plagued the Mountaineers in the doubleheader as they fall to 2-19 overall, 0-9 in the NECC. Bay Path improved to 17-14 overall and 9-3 in the NECC. The Wildcats are fourth place in the Conference.

Contributing offensively freshman Alyssa Davis (Lyndonville, Vt.) went 3-for-6 with a run scored and Cala Colvin (Hoosick, N.Y.) went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Sophomores Ailish Ryan (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) and Amy Balawender (Adams, Mass.) each had a hit on the day for SVC to round out the offensive attack.

Sarah Wright led the Wildcats going 4-for-10 with seven RBI's and seven runs scored. Bay Path finished the day with 26 hits to the Mountaineers 11.

The Mountaineers head to Elms College (15-11 overall, 12-2 NECC) Tuesday, April 21, for a NECC doubleheader; the first pitch is at 3:00 p.m.
