Off of the best season since 2003-04, the Men’s basketball team opens its season at Williams College in the Williams Invitational November 18 at 8:00PM. In 2010-11 the Men’s team won 16 games and made an appearance in the NECC semi-finals. The Mountaineers will open its home schedule on November 29 when they host nationally ranked Middlebury. The Mountaineers open NECC play on December 6th when it hosts Wheelock College.
The Women’s basketball team has its goals set on making the NECC tournament for the first time in program history. Last season SVC won seven games, the most since 1999 when they won 10. The Women’s team will host New England College at 6:00PM. On December 6th the Women’s team will play the nightcap at 8:00PM as both teams open NECC play.
“This year’s team is looking forward to the challenge of building on last seasons success, as well as reaching our number one goal, making the NEEC playoffs,” said Women’s Basketball Head Coach Mike Quinn.
The Men’s Volleyball program comes off of the best season in program history. A program that is only in its sixth year of existence will have the opportunity to go to the NCAA tournament with a conference championship in 2012. Men’s Volleyball won’t start its season until February 2nd when they host Regis College at the Mountaineer Athletic Center, at 7:00PM.
“We will be a team that everyone should watch out for this season,” said Head Men’s Volleyball Coach Josh Stokes. “This season we bring in experience and technical skill.”
All home games will be played at the Mountaineer Athletic Center, which is on the campus of Southern Vermont College. Check out www.svcathletics.com to see full schedules for all Southern Vermont teams.
