Barahona Named NECC Player of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt.- Southern Vermont College Men's Volleyball Outside Hitter Anthony Barahona earned New England Collegiate Conference Player of the week Monday. Barahona connected on a team high 37 kills and hit for a .214 hitting percentage.

The sophomore had a double-double in the Mountaineers loss to D'Youville on Saturday with 16 kills and 16 digs. For the weekend Barahona averaged 2.64 kills per set and 3 points per set. The outside-hitter also had 22 digs and six blocks for SVC.

 Barahona and the Mountaineers went 0-4 on the weekend at the Nazareth tournament. However, SVC played against three of the top ten teams in the country before losing in five sets to D'Youville in the finale.

The Mountaineers will be back in action Thursday evening when they host NECC foe Regis College at 7:00PM.
