BROOKLINE, Mass. – Men's Volleyball season came to an end tonight losing to Newbury College 3-0 in the Semifinals of the NECC Playoffs. SVC finished its season with a school record five wins, defeating 2009's two wins.
Southern Vermont ended its season 5-18 overall and 2-6 in the NECC. Newbury College advance to the NECC Finals tomorrow with a 22-11 overall recorded and a perfect 8-0 in the NECC.
The Nighthawks were led by James Beck with 10 kills. Setter, Matt Talamantes added 9 kills and had a match high 30 assists. Newbury had an overwhelming .271 hitting percentage from the floor.
Leading SVC was Anthony Barahona with a match high 15 kills. Anthony Ayala also added 20 assists and a match high 10 digs.
The 2011 team was also the first Men's Volleyball team to make it to the NECC Playoffs in school history.
