SVC Soccer Comes Up Short Against Skidmore

BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College men's soccer team lost to the non-conference Skidmore College Thoroughbreds on Everett Field Tuesday night 3-0. Skidmore had goals from Alex Amini, Doug Yeates, and Sam Glickman in the victory. SVC's Elias Skiff laid himself on the line at the goalie spot making six saves in the effort.
Skidmore's only goal in first period came from Alex Amini, his first of the year, with 31:32 on the clock when Diego Reinero connected with him on a nifty cross for the score. Chris Ford , Skidmore's starting goalie had the save on SVC's lone shot. On the save Ford caught a cleat in the face and remained out for the rest of the game with Lucas Millington taking over the net responsibilities.
Two minutes into the second period Matt Wolff flipped it to Ike Okpoebo who set up Doug Yeates for the goal, his eighth goal of the year, to make it 2-0 Skidmore. In the 87th minute the Thoroughbreds sealed the victory with an unassisted goal from Sam Glickman, his first of the year.
The loss gives the Mountaineers a 10-6-1 overall record while the Thoroughbreds improved to 7-8. The Mountaineers soccer team looks for its eleventh win of the season as they host New England Collegiate Conference opponent Mitchell College Saturday, October 31st, at 3:00 p.m. on Everett Field.
