Men's Buckets Drops Decision to Hot-Shooting Finlandia
Poultney, VT-The Southern Vermont College men's basketball team lost, 84-60, to Finlandia University in the Association of Division III Independents Men's Basketball Tournament consolation game played in Poultney on the campus of Green Mountain College. Senior forward Nick Harrington (Brooklyn, NY/Grady), played his last game in the green and white. As usual he did not disappoint the faithful who made the trip.
Harrington had 26 points and 16 rebounds. His career ends with 1,528 points and 1,026 boards. He is the college's all-time leader in boards and is second in points. The sure-fire SVC Hall-of Famer will wait to see if he is honored as an All-American. Those names will come out in about one month. His single-season point total of 681 is a school-best.
Sophomore guard Emory Wheeler (Virginia Beach, VA) tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Finlandia made half of 30 three-point shots, while the Mountaineers went 2-16 (13%) from deep. For the game SVC shot 30%, while Finlandia countered with 48%. SVC only had five assists for the game, while the winning squad had 14.
SVC finishes the season at 6-19, while Finlandia improves to 14-12.
