Taeshon Johnson Named to All-NECC First Team

BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second-consecutive year, Southern Vermont College men's basketball senior captain Taeshon Johnson (Charlotte, N.C.) has been named to the All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team.

Johnson picks up the honor after another impressive season in which he averaged a conference-best 22.0 points per league contest, the second-consecutive year doing so. He averaged 22.2 points and 8.3 rebounds overall on the season. Johnson finished with 534 points, an exact mirror of his total from a year ago; those performances rank fifth on the SVC all-time single-season points list.

"Whether as leading scorer in the conference, the combination of rebounding and shooting percentage, or ultimately the effort and class which consistently characterized his game, there is no question that Taeshon is thought among the best of our conference," commented head coach Michael McDonough.  "We are indeed proud of his accomplishments and the respect which he has garnered."

The 6'4" guard finished his career with 1,467 points, third-best in SVC history; he reached that mark in only three years. Despite never having a season that cracked the school's top five list for rebounds, he grabbed 584 career boards, fourth-best for a Mountaineer. He also sits at fifth for most career steals in school history with 96.

All three of Johnson's seasons saw him record a free throw percentage that ranks in the top five in SVC history with his career percentage of 74.0 leading any other player to wear the Mountaineer uniform.

Johnson was also named to the All-NECC First Team last year after being placed on the All-NECC Second Team his first year at SVC in 2010-11.
