Santiago Named NECC Rookie of the Week
BENNINGTON,VT - Southern Vermont College Men's basketball player Jordan Santiago was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, Monday afternoon. Santiago, a freshman from Westfield, MA was named to the all-tournament team in the Tri-State Shootout after posting a career high 26 points against St. Joseph’s (VT) and another 22 points against MCLA.
Santiago has had a strong start to the season with a schedule that has included two teams ranked in the national top five. Through the first six games Santiago has barely left the court, and is averaging 36.7 minutes per game. On the year, Santiago has averaged 13.5 points per game to go with three assists per contest.
The Mountaineers are still in search for their first win of the season. SVC has started the season 0-6, and will take on Wheelock College on Tuesday evening. The game is both teams NECC opener, tip-off is scheduled for 6PM at the Mountaineer Athletic Center.
